If you've followed Mountech for any length of time, you've probably noticed something.
We don't really make suction cup phone mounts.
In fact, we've spent years encouraging people to skip them altogether. Our focus has always been permanent, bolt-on mounting solutions because we've never trusted traditional suction cup phone holders. If you've ever watched your phone slowly slide down the windshield on a hot summer day before crashing onto the floor, you know exactly why.
So why are we launching a vacuum suction cup mount?
Because this isn't the kind of suction cup we've been warning people about.
Traditional Suction Cup Phone Mounts Have Earned Their Reputation
Let's be honest.
Most suction cup phone mounts aren't very good.
The inexpensive press-on designs found online and at gas stations rely on a flexible rubber cup that sticks to the surface using nothing more than basic suction. Heat, vibration, dust, and time all work against them. Eventually they lose their grip, peel away from the glass, and drop whatever they're holding.
That's why we've always preferred mechanical mounting solutions. A properly mounted phone holder shouldn't move, wobble, or fall off every time the weather changes.
We still believe that.
But Sometimes You Can't Drill Holes
As much as we love permanent mounts, they aren't always practical.
Maybe you're driving a rental car. Maybe your work truck is leased. Maybe you're setting up an action camera for one weekend or mounting a tablet inside heavy equipment. Sometimes you need a temporary mounting solution that can be installed in seconds and removed without leaving a trace.
Those are exactly the situations where a vacuum suction cup makes sense.
A Vacuum Suction Cup Isn't the Same Thing
Here's the important distinction.
Traditional suction cups simply stick to the surface.
A vacuum suction cup actively removes air beneath the cup using a mechanical pump. Every pump stroke creates a stronger vacuum, producing significantly more holding force than a conventional suction cup phone mount.
This technology isn't new.

The Right Tool for the Right Job
We're still going to recommend a permanent mount whenever drilling, or something like a BuiltRight bolt-in Dash Mount is an option.
Nothing beats a properly installed dash mount or vehicle-specific mounting system for long-term use.
But not every application allows that.
When you need a vacuum suction cup mount that installs in seconds, removes without damage, and holds with confidence, this is the solution we'd actually trust ourselves.
