Ford Ranger Phone Mount (2019-2023): Where It Bolts, What Fits, What We Would Run
A Ford Ranger phone mount from the gas station solves one of those and blocks a vent doing it. The Mountech Ranger kit solves all three with one bracket, because the bracket is slotted for the AMPS pattern and there is room on it for more than one device. Our product testers settled on cell phone, radar detector and dash cam, left to right, and that layout is still the one we would run.
Which Ranger, Which Kit
| Ranger | Direct fit | What to run |
|---|---|---|
| 2019-2023 | Yes | Ranger dash mount kit, plus the arm and holder you choose |
| 2024+ (new generation, including Ranger Raptor) | Not yet | Vacuum cup base + arm + holder. The dash changed and we have not built for it. |
| Pre-2019 Ranger | No kit | Vacuum cup base + arm + holder |
What the Ranger Kit Is
A dash mount bracket manufactured from 12ga mild steel and finished in a black texture powdercoat that sits close to the factory dash finish. The slots are sized for AMPS standard attachments, so a Mountech ball base bolts to it, and so does a second base for a second device. The kit ships with the bracket, four machine screws, four washers, four locking nylon nuts and printed instructions.
The point of the steel is rigidity. A phone on an arm is a lever, and the plastic dash flexes under it on a washboard road. Bolt the bracket to the truck and the lever has something to push against.
Phone, Radar Detector, Dash Cam
This is the kit where the AMPS slots earn their keep. One bracket, two or three ball bases, and each device gets its own short arm. The phone sits where your hand goes, the detector sits where its sensor sees the road, the dash cam sits where the lens is clear. None of them hang from a vent.
We do not make a radar detector or dash cam holder. Anything that ends in a 1" ball drops onto a Mountech arm, and anything with an AMPS plate bolts to the bracket.
Pick the Head, Keep the Arm Short
The magnetic, MagSafe-compatible holder is the one-handed pick: MagSafe on iPhone 12 and newer, an included magnetic disc for everything else, optional wireless charging. The spring-loaded cradle is the pick for a thick case or a truck that lives on gravel.
Run the 1.5" or 3" arm. Shorter is stiffer, and on a midsize dash reach is rarely the problem. A set of cable clips keeps the charge cable off the screen.
Step by Step
- Confirm the truck is a 2019-2023 Ranger.
- Follow the printed instructions in the kit to set the bracket on the dash with the included screws, washers and nylon lock nuts.
- Bolt a SpinLok ball base to the AMPS slots where you want the phone. Add a second base if you are running a detector or camera.
- Clamp the arm, clamp the holder, set the angle, tighten the single knob.
- Clip the cable to the arm and check that nothing blocks a vent or your view over the hood.
Ford Ranger Phone Mount FAQs
Does the kit fit a 2024 or 2025 Ranger?
No. The kit covers 2019-2023. The 2024 truck has a new dash and we have not verified a part for it, which also rules out the 2024+ Ranger Raptor. Until we do, the vacuum cup base runs the same arms and holders.
Is there a Ford Ranger phone holder that works with a thick case?
The spring-loaded cradle. It grips mechanically and does not need a magnet ring.
Can I mount an iPhone with MagSafe?
Yes. The magnetic holder is MagSafe-compatible, and the kit does not care which head you choose.
Can I run a dash cam or radar detector on the same bracket?
Yes. The bracket is slotted for AMPS, so each device gets its own ball base and arm. Bring your own detector or camera holder with a 1" ball or an AMPS plate.
Will my RAM parts work?
Yes. Mountech 1" SpinLok balls and arms work with any platform built around a 1" ball.
