Which F-150 Phone Mount Fits Your Year? 2009-2025 by Generation, and Narrow vs. Wide Tray

Mountech dash mount phone holder kit installed in a Ford F-150
Ford F-150 Ford changed the F-150 dash four times since 2009. Your phone mount has to match the dash, not the badge.

A 2025 F150 phone mount and a 2012 F-150 phone mount have nothing in common but the badge. An F-150 phone mount is really four different parts. The 12th gen truck, the 13th gen, the 14th gen and the 2024 refresh each moved the tray, the screen and the hardware points, and a bracket built for one of them does not bolt into the others. Buy by year and the install is a bolt-in. Buy by badge and you own a bracket that almost fits.

01 — Quick answer

Which F-150 Phone Mount Fits Your Year?

Find your model year in the table, order that kit, and read the install note next to it. Every kit ends in the same 1" (25.4 mm) SpinLok ball, so the arm and holder you choose carry across generations if you change trucks.

02 — The hardware

What Each Dash Mount Is, and Why It Is Steel

In every generation the dash mount installs into the factory tray above the center display. The bracket is 12-gauge steel, laser cut, CNC formed and powder coated to sit close to the factory interior finish. It is slotted for the AMPS pattern, which means a second device bolts on later without a second bracket, and it carries the SpinLok ball that every Mountech arm clamps to.

Steel matters because of what the tray is made of. The plastic flexes the moment you hang a phone and an arm off it, and flex turns into vibration on a frost heave. A bolted bracket puts the load into the truck instead of the trim.

03 — 2024-2025

Narrow Tray or Wide Tray

The 2024 refresh put a 12" screen in every F-150, and it split the dash tray into two widths. Trim decides which one you have.

Narrow Tray

Platinum with the 702A High Equipment Group, every King Ranch, Tremor with the 402A High Equipment Group, and the Raptor. Narrow tray trucks have no dip in the dash.

Wide Tray

Listed for the other 2024 and 2025 trims. Wide tray trucks have a dip in the dash where the narrow tray trucks are flat.

The comparison photo on the product page settles it in seconds. If your truck is a 2024 Raptor, a 2025 F-150 phone mount search ends at Narrow Tray. If it is a 2024 XLT, it ends at Wide Tray. Either way the install is the same as the 2021-2023 Pro: a series of small holes drilled in the OEM tray, the lower support plate in first, then the mount bolted through the tray into it. Both tray versions include the support plate.

04 — 2021-2023

The Four-Hole Install

This is the one install we will be straight about. The dash tray comes out, four small holes get drilled for the bracket, and the tray goes back in with the bracket bolted through it. The written and video guide from BuiltRight Industries walks every step, and it is a low-risk job with basic hand tools. The payoff is a mount that is part of the dash, not stuck to it.

Pro adds a lower support plate that ties into the dash structure under the tray. Choose Pro for heavy duty use, a second device, or a 6" arm.

05 — 2015-2020

The Kit That Also Fits Super Duty

One kit is listed for both the 13th gen F-150 and the 2017-2021 Super Duty. A 2018 F-150 phone mount and a 2019 F-250 phone mount are the same box. Standard or Pro, same as above.

06 — 2009-2014

The 12th Gen

One configuration, one bracket, bolted into the tray. A 2014 F-150 phone mount from a cup holder gooseneck is a different product category; this one puts the phone high on the stack, in your sightline and off the vents.

07 — Holder and arm

Pick the Head, Keep the Arm Short

Both heads fit every kit. The magnetic, MagSafe-compatible holder is the one-handed option: MagSafe on iPhone 12 and newer, an included magnetic disc for everything else, wireless charging if you want it. The spring-loaded cradle grips mechanically and is the pick for a thick case or a work truck.

Arms come in 1.5", 3" and 6" socket-to-socket, each rated for 2 lb of device. Shorter is stiffer. On an F-150 the 1.5" or 3" arm reaches the phone; save the 6" arm for a tablet on a Pro kit. Snap a set of cable clips on the arm so the charge cable stays off the screen.

08 — Install

Step by Step: A Typical F-150 Install

  1. Confirm the year, and on a 2024-2025 truck, the tray width.
  2. Follow the BuiltRight written or video guide for your kit. The 2021-2023 and 2024-2025 kits drill small holes in the dash tray; the guide for the older kits is the final word on theirs.
  3. Thread the SpinLok ball into the bracket and snug it. Torque snug, not gorilla.
  4. Clamp the arm on the ball, the holder on the arm, set the angle, tighten the single knob.
  5. Route the cable with the clips, then check that the phone clears the vents and your view down the hood.

F-150 Phone Mount FAQs

Which F-150 phone mount do I need for my year?

2009-2014, 2015-2020, 2021-2023 and 2024-2025 are four different kits, and the 2024-2025 kit splits into Narrow Tray and Wide Tray by trim. If you are between two years, the product page fitment notes are the final word.

Does the Raptor use the same mount as the F-150?

Yes, for its generation. The 2024+ Raptor takes the Narrow Tray kit.

Will it fit the Lightning?

We do not list a Lightning-specific kit and we are not going to guess at it. Ask us with your year and trim first.

Do I have to drill?

On the 2021-2023 kit, yes, four small holes in the dash tray, and the 2024-2025 kit drills a series of small holes in the tray the same way. For the 2015-2020 and 2009-2014 kits, the BuiltRight written and video guide for your truck has the install notes.

What is the best phone mount for a Ford F-150?

The one built for your generation, with a 1.5" or 3" arm and the holder that matches your case. A direct-fit dash mount holds on washboard because it is bolted to the truck, and it carries the same lifetime warranty as everything else we make.
