2023+ Colorado and Canyon Phone Mount: Where It Mounts, MagSafe or Cradle, ZR2 and AT4 Use
A Chevy Colorado phone mount and a GMC Canyon phone mount are the same part for 2023 and newer, because the two trucks share the redesigned dash. The Mountech kit installs at factory points without drilling, carries a 1" (25.4 mm) SpinLok ball, and comes configured with the magnetic MagSafe-compatible holder if you want it that way out of the box. Here is where it mounts, which head to run, and what to do if your truck is older.
Which Colorado or Canyon, Which Kit
| Truck | Years | Direct fit | What to run |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chevrolet Colorado | 2023-2025 | Yes | Colorado and Canyon dash mount |
| GMC Canyon | 2023-2025 | Yes | Same kit |
| Colorado or Canyon | 2015-2022 | No kit | Different dash. Vacuum cup base + arm + holder. |
Where It Mounts
The kit bolts to the third-gen dash at factory points, so the phone sits above the center screen, in the dash-top tray, rather than hanging off a vent or stuck to the glass. That is the spot you want in a midsize truck: in your peripheral vision, clear of the airflow, reachable without leaning, and attached to structure that does not flex when the road does. No drilling, no adhesive.
MagSafe or Cradle
The kit is available configured with the magnetic, MagSafe-compatible holder, and that is the version most Canyon and Colorado owners ask us about: MagSafe on iPhone 12 and newer, an included magnetic disc for everything else, optional wireless charging. One hand on, one hand off.
The spring-loaded cradle clamps to the same ball. It grips mechanically, so it is the pick for a thick case, a phone with no magnet ring, or a truck that sees real washboard. If you own a ZR2 or an AT4 and you use it the way the badge suggests, we would carry both heads and swap for trail days. It takes ten seconds.
Arm Length
Arms come in 1.5", 3" and 6" socket-to-socket, each rated for 2 lb of device. Shorter is stiffer, and the dash position already puts the phone within reach, so the 1.5" arm is the default and the 3" arm is for a little more height. Save the 6" arm for a tablet, and only on pavement. Snap cable clips on the arm so the charge cable stays off the screen.
Step by Step
- Confirm a 2023 or newer Colorado or Canyon. The 2022 truck has a different dash.
- Follow the install guide for the kit to set the base at the factory points. Basic hand tools, no drilling.
- Thread in the SpinLok ball and snug it. The locking pins keep it from spinning loose.
- Clamp the arm, clamp the holder, set height and angle with your phone in it, tighten the single knob.
- Route the cable along the arm with the clips and check your sightline over the hood.
Colorado and Canyon Phone Mount FAQs
Is the Colorado mount the same as the Canyon mount?
Yes. The 2023+ trucks share the dash, so they share the kit.
Is there a 3rd gen GMC Canyon MagSafe mount?
Yes. The 2023+ Canyon dash mount is available configured with the magnetic, MagSafe-compatible holder, with wireless charging as an option. A 2024 GMC Canyon phone mount is the same kit.
Does it fit a 2022 or older Colorado?
No. The 2015-2022 trucks have a different dash and no kit is listed. The vacuum cup base runs the same arm and holder, and they move over if you change trucks.
Do I have to drill?
No. The kit mounts at factory points.
Does the ZR2 or AT4 need a different kit?
The kit is listed for the 2023+ Colorado and Canyon with no trim exclusion, and the product fitment photos show a Colorado and a Canyon AT4 interior. Run the cradle on trail days if you push it.
