MOUNTS
The GMC Sierra phone mount question comes down to a storage cubby. 2019-2023 Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD trucks with the original interior have a cubby in the top of the dash in one of two sizes, and the large one is a near-perfect mounting platform that GM never used. Our kit turns it into one. The Canyon got its own direct-fit dash mount with the 2023 redesign.
Each Mountech GMC phone mount bolts in at the dash, carries a 1" (25.4mm) SpinLok ball, and takes any Mountech arm and holder. No suction cup on the glass, no adhesive pad peeling off the dash, no vent clip sagging under a big phone in a case. That is the difference between a GMC Sierra phone holder that was engineered for the truck and one that happens to fit in it.
This guide covers which GMC phone mount fits your year and cubby, what to run in a 2024+ Sierra or an older Canyon, where the phone lands, which holder to pick, and how the kits install. Already know your truck? Shop all GMC mounts or pick your vehicle.
Start with the cubby on a full-size truck and the model year on a Canyon. A 2020 GMC Sierra phone mount and a 2025 GMC Sierra phone mount are not the same part, because the dash is not the same dash.
Open the lid on the storage cubby in the top of the dash. If it is a wide, deep tray, you have the large cubby and the kit fits. If it is narrower and shallower in the same spot, you have the small cubby and it does not. Trim names do not decide this; the dash does. Our large cubby vs. small cubby guide has photos of both.
| GMC | Years | Direct fit | What to run |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sierra 1500, large cubby | 2019-2021 | Yes | Large cubby dash mountAll trims. The kit this page is about. Shop the kit |
| Sierra 1500, large cubby | 2022-2023 | Yes | Large cubby dash mountThe refreshed interior arrived for 2022 on SLE and above, so these years are a cubby check: the 2022 Limited and the Pro trim kept the pre-refresh dash and the large cubby. Shop the kit |
| Sierra 2500 HD & 3500 HD | 2020-2023 | Yes | Large cubby dash mountSame dash cubby, same kit as the 1500. Shop the kit |
| Sierra 1500 or HD, small cubby | 2019-2023 | Not yet | Vacuum cup + arm + holderThe large cubby kit will not fit the small cubby. Build on the heavy duty vacuum cup base. |
| Sierra 1500 & HD | 2024+ | Not yet | Ask us, or vacuum cup + arm + holderNot verified yet. SLE-and-up trucks have the refreshed dash, which the cubby kit does not fit; the Pro may still carry the large cubby. Check the cubby and ask us before ordering, or run the vacuum cup base. |
| Canyon | 2023-2025 | Yes | Colorado & Canyon dash mountBuilt for the third-gen midsize dash, available configured with the MagSafe holder. Shop the Canyon kit |
| Canyon | 2015-2022 | No kit | Vacuum cup + arm + holderDifferent dash, no kit listed. Run the vacuum cup base. |
| Yukon, Acadia, Terrain & other GMCs | all years | No kit | Vacuum cup or AMPS baseNo direct-fit kit. Use the vacuum cup base, or an AMPS-pattern ball base on a bracket you already have. |
Check the dash, not the sticker. We would rather send you to a vacuum cup base that works than sell you a bracket that almost lines up.
Every kit below is the vehicle-specific base. Add the arm length and the holder that fit how you drive, or pick them on the product page.

The GMC Sierra 1500 phone mount, and the HD mount, for trucks with the large dash cubby: 1500 2019-2021, 1500 Pro (and 2022 Limited) 2022-2023, and HD 2020-2023. Read the cubby guide first.

The GMC Canyon phone mount for the redesigned midsize truck, 2023 through 2025. Same 1" ball, same arms and holders, no drilling, MagSafe configuration available.

A 4.5" die-cast aluminum vacuum cup rated to a 120 lb pull, with a 1" ball. Grips glass or a smooth dash panel, moves between trucks, and your arm and holder carry over to a direct-fit kit later.
Of all the GMC Sierra interior accessories you could add, a dash mount is the one you touch every drive, and the cubby in the dash top is the place for it: central, in your peripheral vision without blocking the road, and reachable without leaning. The problem is that a phone slides around in it. Our kit puts a steel bracket in the tray and a 1" ball on the bracket, so the phone rides above the cubby on a short arm instead of rattling inside it.
In the 2023+ Canyon, the dash mount gives you the same thing on the midsize dash: a rigid point above the center screen, in the dash-top tray, rather than a clip on a vent.
Vent clips were never designed to carry weight, and a windshield mount in a work truck gets cooked in summer and regulated in several states. The dash wins.
Both heads fit the same dash mount, so a Silverado or Sierra phone holder is a choice about how you drive, not which truck you own. The magnetic, MagSafe-compatible holder is the fastest one-handed option: the phone lands on the magnet and comes off in one motion. It works with MagSafe on iPhone 12 and newer, non-MagSafe phones use the included magnetic disc, and wireless charging is an option.
The standard spring-loaded cradle grips mechanically. It is the safer pick for a work truck, a thick case, or a phone with no magnet ring.
The cubby kits usually run the 1.5" or 3" arm. Shorter is stiffer, and on a gravel road that matters more than reach.
The Silverado and Sierra large cubby kit turns the cubby into a mounting platform: the steel bracket installs in the tray without drilling, and the 1" SpinLok ball threads into it. The kit ships with the bracket, all necessary hardware and printed instructions.
The 2023+ Colorado and Canyon kit does the same job on the third-gen midsize dash, with no drilling, and is available configured with the MagSafe holder.
Above the base, the sequence is the same in every truck: SpinLok ball, billet aluminum socket arm, holder. Arms come in 1.5", 3" and 6" socket-to-socket lengths. Our arm length guide covers which one your dash needs, and installation guides and getting started with Mountech cover the rest.
Because every Mountech head shares the 1" ball, a second position costs an arm and a head rather than a whole new mount. Add the action camera / GoPro mount for trail footage, or a second holder for the passenger.
Our bases also come in 2-bolt and 4-bolt AMPS patterns, so you can put a ball anywhere you already have a bracket, and our 1" ball mounts work with any other platform built around a 1" ball. The AMPS pattern explainer has the hole spacing.
2019-2023 trucks come with a large or a small cubby in the dash top, and the 2022 refresh put a different dash in the upper trims. Large cubby fits our kit, anything else does not, and trim names are not a reliable guide. Open the lid and look.
Full-size 2019-2023 trucks with the large cubby use one kit. 2023+ Colorado and Canyon use another. 2024+ full-size trucks are not verified yet, and 2022-and-older midsize trucks run the vacuum cup base until a kit exists.
MagSafe for one-handed on and off, cradle for a work truck or a thick case. Run the 1.5" or 3" arm, and add cable clips so the charge cable stays off the screen.
Open the lid on the storage cubby in the top of the dash. A wide, deep tray is the large cubby and the kit fits. A narrower, shallower tray in the same spot is the small cubby and it does not. Trim names do not decide this; configuration does. Our cubby guide has photos of both.
Yes. The large cubby kit fits Sierra HD trucks from 2020-2023 as well as the 2019-2021 Sierra 1500 and the 2022-2023 Sierra 1500 in Pro trim. Same dash cubby, same part.
Only the Pro trim, which kept the pre-refresh dash, plus the early-build 2022 Limited. SLE and above got the refreshed interior for 2022, and the kit does not fit that dash. If in doubt, open the cubby lid and compare it to the photos in our cubby guide.
We have not verified one yet. SLE-and-up trucks carry the refreshed dash, which the cubby kit does not fit, and the Sierra HD got its own refresh for 2024. The Pro may still have the large cubby, so check yours and ask us before ordering. The heavy duty vacuum cup base is the no-risk route in the meantime; the arm and holder move to a direct-fit kit when one lands.
Yes. The 2023+ Canyon dash mount is available configured with the magnetic, MagSafe-compatible holder, with optional wireless charging, and a 2024 GMC Canyon phone mount is the same kit. The holder sits on the same 1" ball as the spring cradle, so you can swap heads later without touching the base.
No. The kit is built for the third-gen Canyon and Colorado dash, 2023 and newer. 2022 and older trucks have a different dash and no kit is listed; run the vacuum cup base.
No. The large cubby kit installs in the cubby tray without drilling and ships with the bracket, all necessary hardware and printed instructions. The Canyon kit installs without drilling as well.
For a 2019-2023 truck with the large cubby, a direct-fit dash mount that bolts into the cubby. It keeps the phone low and central, off the vents and off the glass, and it holds on gravel because it is attached to the truck rather than stuck to it. Pair it with a 1.5" or 3" arm and the MagSafe holder for daily driving or the spring cradle for a work truck.
Yes on both. Every kit ends in a 1" ball, so the magnetic, MagSafe-compatible holder drops straight on, with optional wireless charging. The magnets do not harm phone storage, batteries or screens; keep cards with magnetic stripes out of a wallet case and you are fine.
The magnetic holder works with any phone that has MagSafe or a magnet ring on the case; non-MagSafe phones use the included magnetic disc. The spring-loaded cradle is sized for most large phones in a standard case. If you run a very large phone or a thick wallet case, check the width limit on the holder's product page before ordering.
Yes. Mountech 1" SpinLok ball mounts and socket arms work with any mounting platform that also uses a 1" ball, so you can mix our bases, arms and heads with hardware you already own.
The base, ball and arm will carry one, but Mountech does not make a tablet holder, so bring your own 1" ball tablet holder. Keep the arm short. Our tablet in a truck guide covers the setup.
Phone mounts are legal in every U.S. state. What states regulate is placement and whether you touch the phone while driving, and most placement rules target the windshield, not the dash. Our state-by-state guide has the detail.
All Mountech products are warrantied against manufacturing defects and material failures for the entire life of the product, limited to the original purchaser with proof of purchase. Normal wear and abuse are not covered. Contact us and we will take care of it.
